Java for ColdFusion Developers
with ColdFusion Expert Hal Helms

Java for ColdFusion Developers with ColdFusion Expert Hal Helms
Duration: 5 days
Hal Helms Cold Fusion Expert

Course Synopsis: Java is the dominant programming language, but for many ColdFusion programmers, the idea of dealing with a new syntax plus the very different way of thinking needed for OO is intimidating. Learning the Java syntax isn’t enough; you need to learn how to model applications using the OO paradigm. This class will help you use your existing ColdFusion knowledge to attain a solid foundation of both OO and the Java language.

Who Should Attend: The class is taught by Sun-certified Java Programmer, (ColdFusion Expert) Hal Helms and provides ample time for individual mentoring and training. After learning and working with the basics of OO and Java fundamentals, students spend the last two days working in smaller teams producing an object model and writing the code to implement a project. This affords them the opportunity to experience real-world problems and to receive mentoring and assistance from Hal.

Prerequisites: Because of the advanced level of material covered in this class, we do require students to attend the Fast Track to ColdFusion MX7 class or have the equivalent knowledge. While we will make every reasonable effort to help, students with insufficient skills may be required to observe the class lessons or do their best to keep up without slowing down the rest of the class.

What You Will Learn:
• Polymorphism
• Basic Java syntax
• Inheritance
• Collections classes
• Building search interfaces
• The J2EE road map
• Execution control with conditionals
• Abstract classes and methods

Time: Class time is 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Breaks are scheduled throughout the day and lunch is typically scheduled 12-1. Students provide their own lunch.

Locations: We have company-operated facilities in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, San Diego and Washington DC. We also work with a network of rental facilities to offer our classes regularly across the United States and in Canada. Please double-check the location of your class with our office to make sure you get to the right location.

Related Courses: We recommend the following courses that relate to this class: Dreamweaver 8 Web Site Development, Dreamweaver 8 ColdFusion Application Development and Fast Track to ColdFusion MX7. Please take a look at our other course outlines.
